Rio Olympic Game 2016

As you very well may know the Olympic Games 2016 are set to start in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil soon. The games will be attended by countries from all over the world including Australia. Australia has fielded athletes in most if not all the sports being represented at the Olympics. We can expect that the Australian Olympic team will win medals in heaps of different competitions.

One of the competitions they probably won’t win medals in would be wrestling. That’s not because Australian aren’t good at wresting but because wrestling has been omitted from the Olympics. This was a very disappointing move considering that wrestling was one of the original Olympic sports. If they needed more room for new sports they could have gotten rid of any number of boring sports like dressage or what every it is called.

Lucky we still supply heaps of mats to wrestlers who like to refer to them as wrestling mats. They call them wrestling mats because they wrestle on them. Mainly they training on our EVA interlocking wrestling mats. Some people may use them for competition but mainly they would use specific wrestling mats. You know the ones with the big circle.

Donald Trump and EVA Interlocking Jigsaw Mats

As you may very well know the elections are coming up in America. The two candidates for the election look to be Hillary Clinton and Donald Tump. The election looks to be a very entertaining election and many people think there could be repercussion if either candidate should win. There has been a lot of discussion about Donald Trump and what may happen if he wins the election. Of particular concern is is stance on trade.

It is our belief that the election of Donald Trump (or Donaldo Trumpo as he in know in Latin America) should not have any significant effect on EVA interlocking jigsaw mats. Most of the mats in the world are manufactured in China or Taiwan. There may be mats manufactured elsewhere but not in significant enough quantities to make much different. There might be jigsaw mats that are manufactured in USA but I have not come across them so far. The same can be said about jigsaw mats in Australia and Europe.

If anything it may have a positive effect on EVA interlocking jigsaw mats for the consumer. If Donaldo should lift tariffs in America then there may be a glut of jigsaw mats on the market. On the other hand if his election should cause angst and fear in America (angst is the German word for fear BTW) then you may see a rush to purchase jigsaw mats for martial arts training etc. Either way I just don’t know if the election of Donald Trump (formerly Drump) will have any significant effect on the price or market for EVA interlocking jigsaw mats.

Interlocking Mats Great for Karate

Malcolm Turnbull’s Close Election and Jigsaw Mats

As you know if has been a close election this year. Malcolm Turnbul’s decision to call a double dissolution election backfired dramatically cost his party a number of seats and ushering in a number of far-right candidates.

Postal and absentee votes inched Malcolm Turnbull towards a narrow election win. The coalition is projected to win 72 seats with Labour on 66 and others on five. Seven of them are too close to call. The result could be days away. Despite this it hasn’t caused much uncertainty in the markets. Seems like they have other things to think about.

AUD was strongest currency yesterday. It just seems to bounce back every time. The good thing is that its relatively good value has kept the price of EVA interlocking jigsaw mats low. Britain to Leave European Union

As you may very well know the United Kingdom voted last week to leave the European Union. By a margin on 1 million votes the British voting public voted to leave the EU after 40 years membership. The reasons for voted to “leave” were as varied as the characters campaigning for it. What it means now is that at some point the British government needs to notify Brussels their intension of leaving the union which will then trigger a two year period for the UK to negate their departure with the EU.

Whilst the UK is leaving the EU they are not leaving the planet so there is not real need for that much panic. It is true that it will have an impact on European and the world economy the truth is that the greatest impact will be felt in the UK itself. Not only will they be losing unfettered access to the European market they will also lose the influence they once had. They will also need to re-negotiate new treaties with Europe which may take many years.

Whilst the European Union and its member states pleaded with the UK to stay once the results were announced they were quick to urge the UK to make it departure promptly. It is obvious that Europe will now push hard for the UK to leave fast and will be in no mood to offer any concessions. The thinking being that they don’t want to encourage other states to make the same decision. So consequences to the UK will be harsh. Like a spurn lover they just want a quickie divorce so they can move on with their lives – and rightly so.

Australian GDP Figures

The Australian GDP figures demonstrated that the economy is growing at the fastest pace in 3.5 years. The economy expanded at 1.1% in the first quarter of 2016 and 3.1% over the past year. The rise in GDP was attributed to a rapid rise in exports due to the weaker AUD. The net result was still positive for the AUD gaining over 1% on the release.

The overall fall in the Australian dollar has resulted in the rise in pricing for EVA interlocking jigsaw mats. The price of jigsaw mats has remained low despite a more then 30% fall in the value of the Australian dollar. However we have been forced to raise pricing although nowhere near the actual cost of importing the interlocking mats.
