Yatama Technology is on track to open an office in Shenzhen China in June. The company, which currently has offices in Sydney Australia and Gelnhausen Germany, will be opening an office in Nanshan District in Shenzhen.

Apple has announced finally that it will be buying Beats for $3 Billion. Apple will pay $2.6 billion up front, plus another $400 million over time. Apple’s getting stylish hardware from Beats Electronics and a streaming service with Beats Music.
The winners of the deal are Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre, both successful music producers who launched the company back in 2006 and quickly grew it via celebrity endorsements.Iovine described the deal as a match made in heaven. He said the whole Beats concept was inspired by Apple’s perfect blend of culture and technology.

The AUD has seen a quiet week of movement trading sideways in a 50 point range against the USD. The AUD opened stronger before losing most of its gains to start this morning. There were 2 data releases for the AUD with the Melbourne institute’s lending index having little to no effect. The second piece of data, Construction Work numbers, came in better than expected which saw a push upwards for the AUD. The weeks trend looks to continue with the market seeing very low volatility.

AA contradictory speech overnight by ECB President Mario Draghi led to calls that an interest rate cut when the ECB meet next week may not be as set in stone as first thought leading to some Euro weakness overnight. The message that “he does not see deflation risks in the Eurozone” reduces the need for the cut and could lead to a week of speculation and volatility in the single currency.
The surprise election result in the UK, with anti-EU party UKIP winning a huge number of unexpected seats could dampen the Pounds recent strong run as the result appears to have reduced investor enthusiasm for Sterling. The result has very much been seen as detrimental for U.K. trade and growth, the development could add to the headwinds for the pound, leaving us to see good buying opportunities for the AUD
The US enjoyed a night of positive data pushing sticks and the USD higher with a possibility of further strength to come.
Durable goods orders came in well above the -0.5% forecast, posting a 0.8% change in total value of new purchase orders placed with manufacturers. Marry that with Shiller house prices, market flash services PMI and the conference board’s consumer confidence and you have a USD that is well placed for a bull run.
Locally on ASX futures market overnight the June SPI 200 contract is up 8 points to 5534 bid this morning.
Stocks rallied with S&P reached an all-time intraday high and closing out at 1912 (up 11 points), the Dow hit 16689 during the offshore session closing up near 70 points (0.42%) and the NASDAQ was 1.22% higher.

In its official website, China’s SAT issued a bulletin on 18 April 2014 (Caishui [2014] No.34) that all the Small-medium sized Enterprises, in compliance with specified conditions, may enjoy the tax benefit on Corporate Income Tax (“CIT”). The relevant main terms are extracted as follows:-
1. The Small-medium sized Enterprises in compliance with specified conditions may enjoy a preferential tax rate of 20% on taxable income regarding CIT;
2. At the time of annual reporting of CIT, the preferential tax benefit policy will be adopted without the requirement of obtaining formal approval in advance from the competent tax authorities;
3. The Small-medium sized Enterprises with current and cumulative taxable income not exceeding RMB100,000, of which examining accounts is required and tax is imposed at a fixed rate, are applicable to this tax benefit policy;
4. Newly-established Small-medium sized Enterprises with the taxable income not exceeding RMB100,000 can also enjoy the said tax benefit as well
The measures will enable more Small-medium sized Enterprises to enjoy the tax benefit on CIT so as to release more liquid working capital for investing in future business development. On Friday Market Volatility dropped to the lowest level since March 2013, when the AUD was at 1.05 against the USD. The gauge known as the VIX has retreated 47% since hitting a 14 month high in February.

There were some major political events over the weekend, firstly the election in Ukraine where Poroshenko has won the presidential election based on exit poll & the European parliament election was also held on Sunday. These elections did not really impact the markets.
Gold futures fell for the second time three days as a sign of recovery in the US economy curbed the demand & WTI Crude oil futures climbed to a five week high after US crude inventories tumbled.

The AUD improved in our day time session, on the back of positive Chinese manufacturing PMI numbers. However in the overnight session the Aussie slipped back to lower levels that we saw in early trading. The lower Iron Ore price seems to be weighing on traders’ minds, and technical traders are still looking at sell signals in the AUD USD cross.
