4 Common Mistakes Made During Jigsaw Mats Installation

Jigsaw mats are easy to install so people don’t need to hire professional installers to get the job done. The mats can be installed in a matter of hours depending on the size of the floor. At Ezy Mats, we have noticed that customers tend to make some mistakes during the installation process that can compromise the performance of the mats. Some of the most common mistakes are mentioned below:

  1. Not measuring the area properly

Jigsaw mats stay in place because of pressure from the surrounding pieces and an interlocking mechanism. If you don’t measure the floor area to be covered properly, you won’t have enough pieces to keep the entire floor in place.

  1. Using glue

These jigsaw mats don’t require glue to remain on the floor surface. If you apply glue to the mats, they’ll become stiff and eventually start to crumble. The flooring will remain in place and won’t budge if you install all the pieces correctly.

  1. Not letting the mats expand

When the mats are shipped to your location, they’re in a compressed state. They need to sit in the room where you intend to install the mats for at least 24 hours before installation. This allows the mats to adjust to the temperature, humidity, and environment of the room. The floor will only be secure when the mats are installed after they’ve expanded.

  1. Starting from outside

It’s important to working from the inside out when installing the jigsaw mats. This ensures all mat pieces are in the right position and interlock comfortably.  Start by placing one piece in the middle of the room and move from outwards from that point.
